Had a fantastic day today, looking back over our Doorstep Drop-in family space which happened back in Sept/Oct.  Remembering all the fantastic families, the transformation of the empty shop and the valuable lessons we learned.  Now working on an application for funding to develop this idea into something that families can enjoy for the future.

Thanks for all your help, ideas and creativity Blackburn!

Thursday Bzzz… Blackburn hosted a portrait workshop with artist Richard Cross.  He  is well know to the local art scene and  recently exhibited at the BP portrait award. The workshop was very much in demand and Richard delivered a great demo to a full house. Mia was a fabulous model. A grand selection of portaits was produced in the space of the three hour workshop. The biscuits were quite good too. A big thank you to everyone involved.

Art Exchange – Week Two

October 25, 2010 by

Our resident artist for this week was Robin Denton, a fabulous artist who demonstrated techniques in acrylic creating carton based art.

Our first workshop for this week was local photographer Andy Woodhouse advising people on new ways of finding exciting images. This workshop was very well attended and involved a walk round Burnley to look at the wonderful architecture which can be found just by “Looking up”

Our second workshop was a fantastic opportunity to make individual pieces of jewellery from glass, this was run by Karen from Red Current glass. Some magnificent unique  pieces were created and the Karen ran it wonderfully.

The Friday of this week saw our second photography workshop ran by Donna Craddock. This was a lesson in how to take pictures in natural light and learn some of the tricks of the trade on how to create beautiful photographs without the use of flash.

Kick Ass Cartooning on a Saturday – what else could you wish for?! A very well attended class ran by the fabulous Robin. The attendees found this workshop both fun and educational and a great time was had by all.

Art Exchange – Week one

Jamie Diable was our first artist in residence during week one and created some great work during his week with us and his large dynamic portraits are still with us for you to view.
We ran a Henna Skin Art workshop during the first week which was run by Kate, which was well attended and many lovely designs were created and lasted well into our second week.
On Thursday evening we held our burlesque life drawing class which we managed to publicise both on Facebook and on local radio (BBC Radio Lancs), and we all had a great time drawing our model Willow Blue and her lovely snake!!
Friday morning saw the Creative Babies which was the most fun ever!! We had a visiting group from a local nursery (15 under 2s) and other local parents with their little ones too!! It was organised chaos which was just what we wanted, they were tentative at first but then really got into the swing of it as you can see!!

Saturday was our artist led workshop and Jamie was showing how to use oils and acrylic paints and showed how to make your own canvases too – great stuff!!
